Tobogan - 18th week

09KVĚ

This was a week of parties and cake, so just a normal week at NAR then… Monday was of course Big Monday, but an even bigger Big Monday than usual, because it was the occasion of NAR’s 26th anniversary. In Houston it began with cake from Lucia to celebrate her return to the team: PHOTO. Of course just cake wasn’t enough; she’d also prepared a small feast for us: PHOTO. Not to be outdone, there were also biscuits in the main office, and Marina is clearly very happy about this: PHOTO. Danka spent the morning working from home, and had the fire-brigade at her block again because someone had burnt the toast! After a foreshortened Big Monday meeting (a record 35 minutes!) and group photos (like at kindergarten, said Danka), we moved on to Dock for the party. There was more food (of course), as well as other refreshments, and also the Great NAR Quiz. Despite a bit of controversy, the girls (Danka, Dani, Majka, Sofi, Natty, Iarka) were worthy winners. Trenki was the deserved winner of the personality of the year award, while the NAR Baby Boom was the runaway winner of event of the year. Photos can be found on Jablko, I do believe. Tuesday was a day of more cake in Houston, this time the prize awarded to the girls who won the quiz: PHOTO. It was delicious. We received notification of the plan for a new name for Workflow. Napoleon has been suggested as a partner to Josephine, but I’m not sure it’s a winner. There were interviews for a new coordinator for the M team, a Nová Karolina. Squash was cancelled on account of some people having had a little too much fun on Monday! On Wednesday there was another party, this time to celebrate Mária’s impending maternity leave: PHOTO. The whole Houston team were there and celebrated with pizza, beer and wine, and Mária was very pleased with her present: PHOTO. I’m sure something happened at work on Thursday, but nobody told me about it. I went to the doctor’s on Thursday morning with my knee, and he told me I can’t run for two weeks. Jiří and Adam had fun playing with Adam’s radio-controlled car in the afternoon: PHOTO. Friday was Maria’s actual final day at work, and of course there was food to celebrate: PHOTO. We shall miss her. Milan and Jana headed off for a barge trip on the Vltava along with Petr and Ester and some other friends, while ZuzKa was flying off to London with her parents. We’re hoping for some photos in due course. Oh, and I heard the Czechs beat Russia in some sporting event… TT had a busy week on the road and in the air, clocking up 3000km in the process. He had a meeting with a client in Germany on Wednesday for testing, and the same in Austria on Friday. He used his free time for geocaching in Belgium and Holland, and also spent time in Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Czechia, a total of eight countries in a week! And now we’re at the weekend, and Jana reports that their barge trip was splendid, with beautiful weather, lovely scenery, and a touch of adventure: PHOTO, PHOTO, PHOTO. Andrea’s son Tobias competed in the Čokoládová Tretra in Karvina and met the famous triple-jumper and Olympic medallist Šárka Kašpárkova: PHOTO. Here is Marina celebrating VE day: PHOTO. I’ve no idea where she got the jeep! Meanwhile, Ivanka was enjoying a sunny and relaxing trip to Lysa: PHOTO. I went to the Dvořák theatre to see a ballet of a Midsummer Night’s Dream with Vicky, my daughter. It was very good: PHOTO. Jiří was planning to take his children to the zoo on Saturday, but unfortunately Nela was ill and he took her to the hospital. It turns out she has scarlet fever. I wish her a quick recovery.
