Welcome to the first English edition of Tobogan, or in English Water Slide and confusingly not Toboggan. Sports News Marie forget to mention the very important news that on Saturday last weekend England became the first team to qualify for Euro 2016 and then on Sunday the Czech Republic became the second team to qualify. Go us! Monday It was Marta’s birthday and she made some goodies, but I forgot to take a photo. As we know, in Poland three kisses on the cheeks are traditional, but Marta doesn’t know which one should be first, the left or the right. Does it matter? Monday was of course Big Monday, and the first Big Monday for Ivana, Juraj, Sofia, Linda and Michaela, who all stood up and said a few words about themselves. Ivana did a great job of running it! Following her debut performance as Angelina Jolie, Linda was christened Jolinda by Radek. The big walking tour of Ostrava was cancelled because of the weather… and then the sun came out! I was quite relieved having run round Ostrava twice on Sunday already! Tuesday The Houston team (except Martin) met at the entrance for their morning race up the stairs. Monika was the winner! Lukáš K had lunch with the girls from Houston. PHOTO Monika was smiling and laughing, as always! Jiří S had a meeting with the trainers about our new product WORKFLOW. After a week of shopping Daniela finally had everything for Adélka’s new school, and headed there on Tuesday morning with a fully loaded car. After Adélka had finished her homework on Tuesday evening, she commented that she really must ask the teacher for more! TT and Nataša were on a business trip in Croatia and took the opportunity to visit the beautiful medieval cities of Šibenik and Split. Tom also took the opportunity to swim in the sea, which he says is not as common as his colleagues seem to think! PHOTO TT was also driving the most expensive windscreen in NAR with vignettes from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria and Slovenia, a Hungarian e-vignette and a toll box from Croatia. PHOTO The two Georges played squash along with ZuzKa, Osa and Walter. ZuzKa was very pleased to have beaten Jiří C, and she said that Jiří S was very lucky! Helena apparently ran over a yellow parrot while driving near Štrahovice. It was an accident – or so she said! I’ve no idea what a yellow parrot was doing near Štrahovice… Wednesday Daniela celebrated her name day and would like to say thanks for the chocolate. Nataša and TT trained a new Croatian pilot team – at a chicken hatchery. There was a big meeting about tour new product JOSEPHINE for the Slovak market. Jiří S and his wife went to congratulate his wife’s mother on her 85th birthday. Well done to her! Thursday ZuzKa came to work on Thursday with a bandaged foot. She’d injured it exercising – or so she said! Little Zuzka’s leaving party took place at Dock. We’ll be sad to see her go. Friday In Houston, Sofie got a call in Bulgarian. It was nice to hear her speaking her native tongue and she’s even faster than she is in Czech! ZuzKa left her laptop unlocked and was caught by Niko. She promised a forfeit if she did it again. Ten minutes (!) later she did do it again, so ZuzKa has to prepare coffee and biscuits for IT on Monday morning. The Weekend Jiří S spent the weekend in Znojmo with the ladies (and his wife) at the wine festival. He even took them to his own winery! PHOTO Nataša said they did so much walking they couldn’t feel their legs – but I suspect it was from the wine. On Saturday Radek went to the theatre in Těšín to see the premiere of the musical Francis of Assisi. It was outstanding! It was also the farewell of Lucie Bergerová, current holder of the Thalia Award for Best Theatre Actress in the Czech Republic. Těšín’s loss is Brno’s gain. PHOTO Honza and Verca went to a concert of the band Znouzecnost (A Virtue of Necessity). It was wild! TT and his family went hiking near Košice. Monika wanted to go somewhere nice for coffee with her friend where they hadn’t been before. They found this lovely place at Bašta v Bojnice, 3 km from Prievidza, and she would highly recommend it. PHOTO AND FINALLY… Marian and Beata are clearly having a lovely time on their late honeymoon in the USA. PHOTO If you have any problems with translation, you can use this tool :-) Malcolm
